  Walks, Workshops & Courses

Do you want to know more about herbal medicines? Would you like to be able to make your own herbal preparations, and know how to make use of the Green Pharmacy in our gardens, fields and hedgerows? We passionately believe that this amazing resource should be accesible to all - and with a little guidence and a bit of common sense, it can be.

Our walks and workshops are a season-by-season guide on how to safely identify, collect and prepare some of the wonderful medicinal plants growing all around us. We teach in a relaxed and friendly style, in beautiful surroundings, and with as much practical, on-the-spot techniques as we can fit into the time available.

Summer Walks

Wild Medicine

Our unique and fascinating walks are about learning to see the abundance of natural medicine growing in familiar, everyday places.

On a two hour guided walk we will show you how to identify common medicinal plants; regale you with folklore, fact and medicine; give you tastings from our dispensary; and send you home with recipe cards to get you started on your own medicine chest. We return to the same spots over several seasons because we believe the best way to get to know the plants is to witness them growing and changing in their environment through the year.

Currently our walks are based in and around Cambridge: we frequently lead groups in Grantchester Meadows, on Lammas Land, along the River Cam and at Milton Country Park. If you have a special spot you'd like to explore for plant medicines, we are happy to take group bookings in your area.

If you've ever wanted to learn how to pick and use your own plant medicines, these workshops are for you.
We have two workshops that will be led by us over 2012
Wild Medicine and Gorgeous & Good For you

Wild medicine
Working closely with the seasons, we teach you how to recognise and identify common, local plants - and to turn them into effective home remedies. Many of these plants may already be familiar to you as food and drink (elderflower cordial and sloe gin, for instance); we'll show you how to see them with new eyes as an abundant green pharmacy which you can access to take charge of your own health.

Our aim is to inspire participants with the confidence to start making and using their own plant medicines back home. We will send you home with a 'starter kit' of preparations which you have made during the day, recipes, stories and new skills to enable you to make simple remedies - and, hopefully, the inspiration to continue meeting new plants and finding new medicines.

Gorgeous & Good For You
This is a unique and fun course that we hope will leave you wanting to make more of your own. We aim to have a practical day so you can leave with some beautiful products that you have made yourself but with a core understanding of natural plant ingredients, so you can really go and experiment on your own.

Gorgeous & good For You

Profits from our Walks, Workshops etc enable us to fund our community projects
such as the drop in clinics and educational events
